Fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia is a common syndrome in which a person has long-term, body-wide pain and tenderness in the joints, muscles, tendons, and other soft tissues. The goal of treatment is to help relieve pain and other symptoms. It often involves stress-relief methods including myomassology and relaxation techniques. A treatment plan is developed for each individual based on their symptoms. Clients with Fibromyalgia have reported great relief, help in sleeping, and mobility with regular myo-massage

Chronic Headaches or Migranes

CranioSacral Therapy (CST) has been used successfully to relieve a variety of dysfunctions including headaches, neck and back pain, jaw dysfunction, and migraines. With migraines, of course, there can be multiple causes. Virtually anything that interferes with the autonomic nervous control of the blood vessels in the head can result in migraine. In general, CST does a very good job of normalizing autonomic nervous activity. Cranial Base Release, a part of CST, can be integrated into the myomassology treatment plan to compliment therapy on the shoulders, neck and cranial muscles, and give relief to the pressure on the cranium causing headaches

"Amazing! Relief...sinus drainage...headache gone. Goose bumps!"  Barb A.

Rotator Cuff Treatments

The rotator cuff is made up of four muscles that help move and stabilize the shoulder joint. Damage to any one of the four muscles or their ligaments that attach the muscle to bone can occur because of acute injury, chronic overuse, or gradual aging. This can cause significant pain and disability with range of motion or use of the shoulder joint.  Regular myomassology treatment specifically targeting this muscle group through manipulation and muscle release, along with regular physiotherapy and exercise, dramatically improve the range of motion and use of the shoulder joint. This therapy can be integrated into your myomassology treatment plan

"Feel much better, muscles more loose. More relaxed. Explained everything well. Reduction in pain and improvement in rotator cuff area, each session improves my range of motion"  Dennis H.

Mouse Arm

Are you experiencing wrist, elbow and neck pain?  You're not alone. An increasing number of people today are reporting incidences of muscle, tendon, and nerve pain—particularly in their hands, wrists, arms, and back. For many people in the workplace today, it's common practice to sit for prolonged periods at a desk and work on a computer. Without frequent breaks and other forms of exercise, this general lack of physical movement can lead to any one of a number of related conditions, including “Mouse Arm”. Specific muscle-targeted therapy can be integrated into your myomassology treatment to address the affected muscles by this syndrome

Sciatica & Piriformus Syndrome

Sciatica refers to pain, weakness, numbness, or tingling in the leg. It is caused by injury to or pressure on the sciatic nerve.  Piriformis syndrome is a disorder that occurs when the sciatic nerve is compressed or otherwise irritated by the piriformis muscle causing pain, tingling and numbness in the buttocks and along the path of the sciatic nerve descending down the lower thigh and into the leg. These conditions closely resemble each other

A series of muscle-targeted manipulations, releases, and leg balancing is integrated into the myomassology treatment plan for clients that are experiencing this pain

Plantar Fasciitus

Plantar fasciitis is inflammation of the thick tissue on the bottom of the foot. This tissue is called the plantar fascia. It connects the heel bone to the toes and creates the arch of the foot. Plantar fasciitis occurs when the thick band of tissue on the bottom of the foot is overstretched or overused. This can be painful and make walking more difficult. The most common complaint is dull or sharp pain and stiffness in the bottom of the heel and the foot may ache or burn. Fascia and muscle-targeted muscle therapy on the leg, Achilles, foot and plantar fascia is used in a myomassology treatment to address this syndrome

Stress

Massage is a fantastic stress reduction option for many people. A soft gentle touch, soothing music and a quiet comfortable attmosphere are necessary for stress relief

Joan Borysenko, a medical scientist and co-founder of the Mind/Body Clinic at Harvard Medical school has been quoted as saying (Borysenko, 1999 as cited in Parker, 2006)…

"Often times people are stressed in our culture. Stress-related disorders make up between 80-and-90 percent of the ailments that bring people to family-practice physicians. What they require is someone to listen, someone to touch them, someone to care. That does not exist in modern medicine. One of the complaints heard frequently is that physicians don't touch their patients any more. Touch just isn't there. Years ago massage was a big part of nursing. There was so much care, so much touch, so much goodness conveyed through massage. Now nurses for the most part are as busy as physicians. They're writing charts, dealing with insurance notes, they're doing procedures and often there is no room for massage any more. I believe massage therapy is absolutely key in the healing process not only in the hospital environment but because it relieves stress, it is obviously foundational in the healing process any time and anywhere"

Massage can provide different benefits to people affected by the stress response. The most important benefits are:

  • Balance of the autonomic nervous system
  • Reducing muscular tension and lengthening contracted muscles
  • Trigger point release
  • Restoring circulation to ischemic tissues

"I felt very relaxed. Took all the tension out of the body. Recommend Julia to all my family and friends."  Barry B.

Apparent Short Leg Syndrome

Individual muscles such as Quadratus Lumborum, Gluteus Maximus, Gluteous Medius & Piriformus when they become tight and painful act negatively on the structutal alignment of the hip. With this condition one leg will appear to be 1/2 to 2 inches or mor shorter. This is the equivalent of walking around with 'one shoe on and one shoe off' all the time resulting in chronic pain. Medication releaves the pain but does not address the cause at the source. Muscle Therapy corrects muscular imbalance wherever they occur in the body and restores true structural alignment and relieves painful muscle conditions

ABOUT OUR THERAPIES ...

Myomassology Massage is one of the most comprehensive forms of muscle therapy.  A whole body natural health approach to the muscles and immune system, Myomassology focuses on your body’s physiology, lymphatic system and acupressure points

The practitioner uses a combination of various ancient and modern massage techniques such as Swedish massage, acupressure, reflexology, tui-na, Chinese fire-cupping, aromatherapy and cranio-sacral therapy.  This allows for a ‘whole-body’ organic approach to treatment, bringing a different set of tools to the massage table. The diversity of modalities incorporated within Myomassology ensures that therapists are able to adapt treatment methodologies to suit a wide variety of ailments
